Small-scale farmers in communities such as Diepsloot and Bertrams have reason to celebrate, as the City of Johannesburg has introduced Agri-Centres to support and grow farming in informal settlements across the city.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning, the City announced the rollout of agricultural help centres designed to give community farmers access to land, tractor services, and business development opportunities.
The initiative aims to strengthen urban agriculture, improve food security, and create sustainable livelihoods for residents.
