The Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster released a confusing statement on Thursday regarding the alleged arrest of musician Tebogo G. Mashego in Laudium.

Mashego, popularly known for his hit single Biri Marung, made headlines after a TikTok video in which he exposed sensitive truths about the music industry following his return from Nigeria.

Soon after that, the reports surfaced that he had been arrested. However, in a contradictory statement, the JCPS Cluster clarified that Mashego had not been arrested but removed from the community for allegedly displaying “abnormal behavior”, and acting violently in public.

“Tebogo G. Mashego has not been arrested. Information received indicates that he displayed abnormal behaviour and allegedly acted violently, assaulting people without apparent cause,

"Laudium SAPS members were summoned to the scene and, in the interest of public safety, had to forcefully remove him from the community as he was visibly resisting." The statement read.

The developments have left fans and the public confused, with many questioning the timing of the incident following his online revelations.

k. @khothatso214·So why are they putting him at back of the van if he's not arrested? La nyela Lona. Somebody paid these fools

Max @uber_boy9·Something is off to this innocent boy. It's like he's going crazy. Something went wrong when he went to Nigeria and mind you, whatever he's saying might be true, but since he's a small boy, we all can't trust him. Mostly, spiritual cases like those are not easy to trust  #free

Village Lawyer #KBY @Malatjie_·An easy unlawful arrest and detention matter @SAPoliceService You should have charged him if there were allegations of assault. You can’t just be throwing people at the back of police vans without any intention of arresting and charging

ALETTAHA @ALETTAHA·So why was a violent man not arrested? He was a clear and pleasant danger to the community?

Stufuza @Ma_Neli·Some communities are lucky. Their calls are attended. We had to let an armed robber go yesterday in Vlakfontein Ext 3 after holding him for 5 hours and SAPS didn't show.

The Authorities have not confirmed whether Mashego will face any charges regarding his alleged behavior.
