The challenged Mamelodi Sundowns went four points clear on the PSL log standings, Tuesday, Night after beating the troubled Ajax Cape Town 2-1 at the Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town.

The Brazilians increased their points to 31 to outpace the second based Cape Town City who are sitting on 27 points on the log.

Downs entered the Ajax territory with one thing in mind, to push the urban warriors to the deep ends of relegation zone, as they looked to better their standings at the summit of the log.

But it was the Urban warriors, who found the back of the net first in the 27th minutes through the problematic urban child Fagrie Lakay,  who hardly had a hard time dealing with the ever hard working Downs defender Mutjeka Madisha to put the ball past Downs Shot stopper Dennis Onyango.

Downs fought for an equalizer in the 30th minutes but Manyisa's effort was not powerful enough to beat the Ajax Goal keeper Peterson, who was all circumspect to almost every threat the Brazilians posed in the night.

Vilakazi and Hlompho Kekana combined well to weave a very dangerous counter attack in the 38th minutes to bemuffle the unbreakable Ajax defence forcing Ref Daniel Barnet to point the ball to the ash, after Issac Nhlapho handled the ball in the box.

The Brazilian international defender Recardo Nasemento, who is expecting a child in just a few days from now, bravely stepped forward to the penalty spot to give Downs a much needed equaliser.

Sundowns supporters burst into Kaboyellow song as loud as they could after the goal to egg the belligerent Masandwana on for another goal.

Ajax suddenly lost concentration in the 39 minutes, and allowed Downs to fashion a crucial attack that saw Sibusiso Vilakazi wasting no time in scoring his first goal this season to make it 2-1 for Downs before the interval.

Sundowns enjoyed their 2-1 lead in the second half as they seemed reluctant to go forward to probe for more goals.

However the Urban warriors assumed a good ball possession that they comfortably carried entire insipid second half.

In the end it was Coach Pitso Mosimane and his boys, who flew back home with three points leaving the newly appointed Ajax coach Muhsin Ertugral and his troops reeling in the relegation zone.
