The first annual Sedumedi Hope Foundation #ISurvived Diepsloot 2019 event got off a good and emotional start on Saturday, with hundreds of young people flooding the Youth centre in Diepsloot ext2, to pledge their support to their heroic cancer survivor Refilwe Sedumedi.

Sedumedi, a Sloot FM presenter and the founder for The Sedumedi Hope Foundation thanked God for having saved her life, after she was shot in the neck by six men who tried to hijack her last month.

“Indeed God works in His mysterious way, who could have thought that with this bullet lodged in my neck tissues I would pull this through?”

“It can only be God's sufficient grace upon my life I am forever grateful,” said the bubbly Sedumedi.

Marietjie Bothma advised the women to support each other to overcome fear and the struggle faced by many women in the society.

She said women should stop competing but instead strive for love and respect towards themselves.

“When we support each other as Woman we can overcome any fear, pain, struggle.”

“Let us stop competing but hold each other, support each other Love each other Respect each other.”

House of Amba, a fragrance company, praised Sedumedi for being a woman who changes lives and that she is a woman who gives strength when others go through dark moments.

"She is the Queen who changes lives,  at times our vulnerability gives strength to others."

Sedumedi thanked everyone who came to the event to support her, the bubbly Queen was out of words and emotionally taken by the love the community had given her.

“Words cannot express my feelings, and my thanks for your lovely support.”

“I appreciate your determination in showing me I can do it! Thank you for perseverance, support and love.”

As if it was enough, many young men and women took to their social media to shower their shero with words of love and appreciation for her work in making the difference in the world especially women.
