Following a successful four-year stint as a radio presenter and producer at Sloot FM, Blackdash Nthiola has officially left the community radio station, the local “Lekker Presenter” announced on Wednesday.
Blackdash shared the news with colleagues via WhatsApp, saying he was leaving his “second home” for new opportunities. He also expressed gratitude for the memorable experiences and support he received during his time at the station.
“My beautiful colleagues it was a great time to work with you together, stage changes and upper levels are good and nice but we are still together,” he said.
One colleague, who wished to remain anonymous, praised Blackdash for the outstanding work he has done for the station.
The evergreen radio anchor was also widely admired by his fellow Sloot FM team members for his significant contributions, sense of humor, and unwavering willingness to support others.
“He's done so much for Sloot fm from successful OBs [Outside Broadcasts] to professional jingles trying to make radio come alive,” said the anonymous presenter.
A boardroom feud at the station has been cited as one of the reasons Sloot FM continues to lose talent at the North Johannesburg community radio outlet.
“When they reshuffled him they take him to an hour show no, but God opened a door for him that no man can close, I just love how my father God does things,” The anonymous said.
In a recent social media post, Blackdash expressed frustration with the program managers for giving him only a one-hour show, which he felt was insufficient for a professional radio presenter of his experience.
“Like really, one hour show? Amateurs have three hours man, check it,” said the disturbed Blackdash.
Although his next destination remains unconfirmed, rumours suggest that Blackdash may be joining rival station Cosmo FM 90.5 as a production manager.
Blackdash Nthiola is the fourth presenter to leave Sloot FM in 2019, with Thabiso Moroane, also known as DJ Dintha, still in limbo.
